What is the best bait for crab fishing?

My boyfriend and I recently started getting into crab trapping. We normally use crab traps and use them right off of the bank, dock, etc. (We don't have a boat) We have used cans of tuna, raw chicken, and herring but we were wondering what the most successful bait has been for people who have been crab trapping for awhile...Thanks!
